Panelist Bio's

Brenna Renn, Ph.D. (she/her) is a clinical geropsychologist (a psychologist who specializes in older adulthood) and an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her research focuses on improving access to and utilization of mental health care, particularly in the context of depression, cognitive impairment, and chronic disease. She is core faculty in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at UNLV, where she teaches foundational courses, provides clinical supervision, and mentors PhD students as director of the UNLV TREATment lab. Dr. Renn maintains a research affiliation with the University of Washington Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, where she completed her fellowship and was a member of the faculty before joining UNLV in July 2020. She is passionate about equipping mental health care providers to work with older adults and in interprofessional team and integrated care settings. As such, she serves as an interprofessional education consultant on a HRSA Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program grant and co-leads a university-wide annual training in interprofessional education and practice for graduate students across nine healthcare disciplines at UNLV. She and her family enjoy exploring their new home here in the Mojave Desert, including local restaurants and outdoor pursuits such Red Rocks, Mt. Charleston, and nearby National Parks. Michelle L. Jackson, LCPC is a licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Currently working as a full-time psychotherapist at Desert Winds Hospital. She also has a private practice in Nevada. Michelle’s focus is helping youth and adults manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma and mood disorders. Michelle became interested in the field of mental health after serving as a volunteer Chaplain for the Vanderburgh County Detention Center in Indiana for six years. In her capacity as a Chaplain, she conducted study groups and individual counseling. Michelle has a passion for working with young women who are at risk. She has served as a youth minister as well as a board member for organizations such as the YWCA and Reflecting Waters (supporting homeless women in recovery from addiction). Michelle received her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University In 2016, and undergraduate degree in Business Mgt. from Oakland City University. Michelle was licensed as a Mental health counselor in Indiana and currently Licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor in Nevada. Prior to psychotherapy, Michelle had a lengthy career in management with companies such as Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana, where she was a Manager in Production and Communications. Before joining Toyota, Michelle was a Plant Manager for Exel Logistics in Las Vegas, and an Operations Manager with TJ Maxx Distributions.

Mrs. Jackson has been married to Stanley for over 35 years and they have two adult children. The family resides in North Las Vegas, NV.
